Six Service Courses

Garden Masonry and Outdoor Systems

FFK GARDIN CONTRACTORS INC builds and maintains complete exterior environments for homes and commercial grounds across Lehi and the surrounding valleys. Each of the six services below is a course in the same wall: planned together, built in order, and guaranteed to work as one system.

C-01

Stone Wall and Hardscape Builds

Stone is the backbone of the gardens we build. FFK GARDIN CONTRACTORS INC raises retaining walls, seat walls, garden dividers, privacy screens, fire features and gate piers using fieldstone, sandstone, limestone and cast stone. We work in dry-stack where a rustic face is wanted and in mortared construction where a crisp line and higher load capacity are required. Every wall begins below grade with a properly compacted structural base, a footing sized to the wall height and soil condition, and a drainage plane that lets water escape instead of pushing against the face. Courses are laid offset so each stone locks against its neighbors, and the wall is finished with a coping cap that overhangs slightly to throw rain clear of the stonework. Hardscape work extends to outdoor kitchens, steps, columns and decorative boulders, all detailed so the garden looks intentional from every angle and remains stable through frost heave.

C-02

Garden Path and Paving Systems

A path is the part of the garden the body touches, so we build it with base preparation first and surface beauty second. Our crews install flagstone walks, stepper paths, gravel and decomposed granite paths with steel or stone edging, full patio fields, driveway aprons and landing areas at doors and gates. We excavate to depth, compact base material in lifts, and set the finished surface on a joint sand or mortar bed tuned to the material and the traffic it will carry. Routing is laid out on site with a line and a hose so curves follow the garden rather than a drawing table, and grades are checked to keep water moving away from the house. The result is a path that feels natural underfoot, stays level season after season, and links the wall, the planting and the lighting into one continuous experience.

C-03

Irrigation and Drainage Works

Water is where a garden is won or lost. Our irrigation work covers drip zones for beds and containers, spray and rotor zones for lawns and groundcover, valves, manifolds, controllers, rain sensors and backflow assemblies, all selected and sized for the plantings they serve. We balance pressure and coverage, group plants by water need, and set schedules that match the season rather than the calendar. On the drainage side we cut French drains, trench drains, channel drains, dry wells and downspout extensions to move storm water and roof flow away from foundations, retaining walls and paved areas. Because we also build the walls and paths, we place pipe, wire and drains before the finished surface is installed, which is the only order of work that avoids cutting into new stone. Every system is tested at pressure and flow, then documented with a zone map for future service.

C-04

Outdoor Lighting Runs

Lighting turns a garden from a daytime view into an evening place. FFK GARDIN CONTRACTORS INC designs and installs low-voltage lighting circuits for path lanterns, uplights that graze stone faces, step and stair lights, deck and pergola fixtures, tree-mounted washes and accent lighting beneath shrubs. Fixtures are chosen for warm color temperature and shielding so light falls on the wall or walk rather than into the eyes of a guest, and every run is sized to the transformer with room for a future phase. We hide wire in the same trenches as irrigation where possible, mount transformers, timers and photocells where they can be reached for service, and label each circuit. At hand-over the client receives a lighting plan showing every fixture and transformer, so maintenance and expansion stay straightforward for the life of the garden.

C-05

Seasonal Planting Programmes

Planting is the course that changes with the years. Our seasonal planting programmes begin with soil assessment and amendment, then shape beds, set trees and shrubs, layer perennials, ornamental grasses and groundcover, and finish with a mulch profile that suits each exposure. We select material that holds form through a hot Utah summer and a hard freeze, reject stock with circling roots, and plant at the correct depth with the root flare exposed. Beds are grouped by water need so the irrigation system stays simple and efficient, and larger properties receive a written programme that sequences work across spring, summer, fall and winter. Rather than a one-time install, a planting programme is a plan for how the garden matures, so each season it fills in, improves its structure and asks less of the client than the season before.

C-06

Maintenance and Repair Crews

The capstone course keeps every other course true. Our maintenance and repair crews reset heaved flagstone, rebuild and repoint failing wall sections, clear, test and adjust irrigation, replace failed lighting fixtures, prune and divide overgrown planting, and refresh joint sand and mulch on a schedule. We treat maintenance as a specialty rather than an afterthought: crews arrive with the same materials used in the original build, keep records of every repair, and group small tasks into efficient visits. Property managers use this service as a single point of contact for the entire exterior, and homeowners use it to protect the investment their build represents. Whether the need is a single loose step or a full seasonal care plan, the goal is the same: a garden that always looks finished and never drifts out of condition.

How the Six Courses Fit Together

The order is not arbitrary. Drainage and subsurface utilities are planned first, because everything else sits on top of them. Base and structural work follows, giving the wall and path their strength. Stone and paving come next, protected by the grades already established. Lighting and planting finish the garden, and maintenance keeps it in condition. When one contractor holds all six courses, there is no seam for water or neglect to find, and no finger pointing between trades if something needs attention later.
